Lost & Found Group Biography
Lost & Found Quartet started out as a dream in one person. That person was Woody Martens, founder and original member of Lost & Found Quartet. For many years, he had envisioned a group that would sing Southern Gospel Music in a style with an edge to it. A style very similar to the sound of the legendary "Oak Ridge Boys," a Gospel quartet he had followed since he was a young man. He wanted to do songs that were not necessarily being sung by other Southern Gospel groups. The music needed to have a contemporary feel but still be identified as Southern Gospel.
In July of 1999, Lost & Found was borne. In addition to Woody Martens at the piano, the original members of the group included: Alfred Unger as the first tenor, Ed Nordvall as our lead singer, Doug Schroeder as the baritone and Ken Harder as the bass singer. After singing together for nearly four years changes began to take place. Changes in personnel are inevitable in any group, especially when it is a part time group. Even so, over the nine years that Lost & Found has been travelling and singing, there have only been ten different members of the group.
With these changes Lost & Found has continued to keep their sound and their choice of music consistent, always trying to perform music not commonly done by other groups. While they cover songs that are well known to the public, as performed by numerous other artists, they also bring a lot of original material into their concerts.
The Current group is comprised of: Paul Thomas, Paul Gardener and Ken Harder.
Paul Thomas, the tenor in the group, is a retired church pastor having been in the ministry for more than 30 years. He handles concert follow up and also assists with the vocal arrangements.
Paul Gardener, is our 2nd tenor or lead singer. He looks after our rehearsals and helps arrange the music together with Paul Thomas. He is also responsible for looking after the bus and the sound equipment. He also plays piano and often leads in worship during out concerts.
Ken Harder sings the baritone part and manages the group. He looks after the bookings, promotions, CD production and inventory and continues to handle the emcee work.
